Sow seeds directly in well-draining, loose, fertile soil in a sunny spot. Plant seeds about 1/4 inch deep, spaced 2-3 inches apart. Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged, as carrots need even moisture to develop properly. Thin seedlings to about 3-4 inches apart once they are large enough to handle. Carrots prefer cooler temperatures, ideally between 55°F and 75°F (13°C - 24°C). Use a balanced fertilizer to support growth, but avoid high nitrogen levels, which can cause the roots to become overly leafy. Mulch around the plants to retain moisture and reduce weed growth. Harvest when the roots are fully mature, usually around 70-80 days after sowing, depending on your growing conditions.
