Clarkia Amoena - Mix
Clarkia Amoena - Mix
1. Sow Indoors or Outdoors:
- Indoors: Start seeds indoors 6–8 weeks before the last frost. Sow seeds on the surface of a moist seed-starting mix as they need light to germinate. Gently press the seeds into the soil but do not cover them. Keep the soil moist and maintain a temperature of 65–70°F (18–21°C). Germination takes 10–14 days.
- Outdoors: Directly sow seeds outdoors in early spring or late summer, depending on your climate. Scatter seeds over prepared soil and lightly rake to cover them. Thin seedlings to about 6–12 inches apart once they have a few sets of leaves.
2. Sunlight and Care:
- Clarkia prefers full sun and well-drained soil. Water moderately, ensuring the soil is kept moist but not soggy.
- The plants are relatively drought-tolerant once established, but they will perform better with regular watering during dry periods.
3. Blooming:
- The Clarkia amoena mix typically blooms in late spring to early summer, producing a colorful array of pink, purple, white, and red flowers. The plants are great for cut flowers and attract pollinators like bees and butterflies.
Clarkia amoena, also known as Godetia or Farewell-to-Spring, is a charming, easy-to-grow annual that adds vibrant color to gardens and floral arrangements.
