Sow seeds directly in well-draining, fertile soil in a sunny location. Plant seeds about 1/4 inch deep, spacing them 6-12 inches apart. Purslane thrives in full sun and warm temperatures (70°F - 85°F/21°C - 29°C). Keep the soil consistently moist, but once established, it's drought-tolerant. Water regularly during dry spells, but avoid waterlogging. Thin seedlings to prevent overcrowding and encourage strong growth. Purslane prefers slightly acidic to neutral soil (pH 6.0-7.0). Fertilize lightly with a balanced fertilizer or compost. Harvest the young, tender leaves and stems when they are about 3-4 inches tall, typically 30-40 days after sowing. Regular harvesting encourages fresh growth. Purslane is a heat-tolerant, low-maintenance plant ideal for warm climates.
