Sow seeds directly in well-draining, fertile soil after the last frost date, when the soil has warmed to at least 60°F (16°C). Plant seeds about 1 inch deep, spacing them 6-12 inches apart in rows. Indian corn thrives in full sun and prefers warm temperatures (70°F - 85°F/21°C - 29°C). Keep the soil consistently moist, especially during dry periods, but avoid waterlogging. Fertilize with a balanced fertilizer or compost to encourage strong growth. Thin plants to 12-18 inches apart to provide space for proper development. Mulch to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Indian corn takes about 90-120 days to reach maturity, and the ears should be harvested when the husks are dry and the kernels are firm. Be mindful of pests like corn earworms, and take action if needed.
