Giant Granadilla is a vigorous tropical passionfruit vine that produces large, aromatic edible fruits. It needs warmth, plenty of sunlight, consistent moisture, fertile soil, and strong support for its climbing vines. In the Gulf, the main challenge is extreme summer heat and dry conditions, so protection and irrigation are important.

🌱 Best Growing Season

• Best sowing time: March–April or September–October.
• In Kuwait and the hottest Gulf areas, September–October is often preferable for starting seeds because summer heat is beginning to decline.
• Avoid sowing outdoors during the peak summer heat.
• Ideal germination temperature: approximately 24–30°C.

🌿 Seed Sowing

1. Use a well-drained, fertile seed-starting mix containing compost or other organic matter.
2. Soak the seeds in clean, lukewarm water for approximately 12–24 hours before sowing to help soften the seed coat.
3. Sow seeds approximately 1–1.5 cm deep.
4. Cover lightly with the growing medium.
5. Keep the seed-starting mix warm and consistently moist, but never waterlogged.
6. Place the seed tray or pot in a warm location with bright, indirect light.
7. Once seedlings are established and have several true leaves, transplant them carefully.
8. Provide a strong trellis, pergola, fence, or other support as the vine develops.

• Watering: Water regularly and deeply. Giant Granadilla prefers consistent moisture, particularly during flowering and fruit development.
• Do not allow the root zone to remain waterlogged.
• Fertilizing: Add plenty of compost or well-rotted organic matter before planting. During active growth, use a balanced fertilizer, followed by a fertilizer with adequate potassium when flowering and fruiting.
• Provide a strong climbing support, as the vine is vigorous and can become heavy when carrying fruit.
• Mulch around the root zone to conserve moisture and moderate soil temperature.
