• Light: Provide bright, indirect light or a semi-shady location. Protect from intense, direct sun, especially the harsh midday sun in the Gulf region.
• Temperature: Prefers cool to intermediate temperatures, ideally not consistently exceeding 30°C (86°F). In the Gulf area, they will likely need to be grown in a temperature-controlled indoor environment during the peak summer months.
• Humidity: While they are found in fynbos and coastal scrub, they don't necessarily require the extremely high humidity of tropical orchids. Good air circulation is more important to prevent fungal issues.
• Watering: Water thoroughly during the active growing season (spring and summer). The potting mix should be kept moist, but ensure excellent drainage to avoid root rot. Unlike deciduous orchids, they are evergreen and require some moisture during their dry winter period, but watering should be reduced.
• Potting Mix: Use a very well-draining, sandy terrestrial mix. A mix incorporating fibrous peat, loam, coarse sand, and fine bark with good drainage material at the bottom of the pot is suitable.
• Fertilizing: Fertilize with a balanced, low-phosphorus fertilizer applied at a quarter to half strength, as these plants can be sensitive to phosphorus toxicity.
