Anatolian Mint (Mentha spp.) is a fragrant perennial herb valued for its fresh aroma and culinary uses. Mint prefers moist, fertile soil and partial sun, making it suitable for Gulf cultivation when protected from the strongest summer heat.

🌱 Best Sowing Time

• Best sowing period: October–February.
• Best period in Kuwait: November–January.
• A second sowing can be made in February if temperatures remain mild.
• Avoid: May–September and periods of extreme summer heat.
• Ideal germination temperature: approximately 18–24°C.

🌿 How to Sow the Seeds

1. Use a moisture-retentive but well-drained, fertile seed-starting mix.
2. Sow the small seeds on the surface or cover very lightly, about 0.2–0.3 cm deep.
3. Gently press the seeds into the growing medium.
4. Mist carefully with water.
5. Keep the medium consistently moist but never waterlogged.
6. Place the seed tray in a bright location with indirect light or gentle morning sun.
7. Once seedlings have developed several true leaves, transplant carefully.
8. Space plants approximately 30–45 cm apart if growing in open ground.

• Fertilizing: Add compost before planting and apply a mild balanced fertilizer during active growth if needed.
• Trim the growing tips regularly to encourage bushier growth.
• Mint spreads vigorously through underground stems, so containers are highly recommended if you want to control its spread.
