Sow Indoors: Start seeds 6–8 weeks before the last frost in a seed-starting mix. Sprinkle the seeds on the surface of the soil and lightly press them down. Do not cover the seeds, as they need light to germinate.
Germination: Keep the soil moist and maintain a temperature of 70–75°F (21–24°C). Germination typically takes 14–21 days.
Transplant: Once seedlings have several sets of leaves and the frost risk has passed, harden off and transplant them to your garden or containers, spacing about 8–12 inches apart.
Sunlight and Care: Plant in full sun with well-drained, fertile soil. Water regularly, but avoid waterlogging. Anise prefers a dry-to-moderate moisture level once established.
Anise is great for both culinary use and as an aromatic addition to the garden.
