Sow Indoors: Start seeds indoors 8–10 weeks before the last frost in a seed-starting mix. Gently press the seeds into the soil, covering them lightly. Peony seeds generally need a period of cold to germinate.
Stratification: To improve germination, cold stratify the seeds by placing them in a moist paper towel inside a plastic bag in the fridge for 6–8 weeks before sowing.
Germination: After stratification, plant the seeds in trays or pots and keep them in a cool area. Germination can take anywhere from 3–6 weeks depending on conditions.
Transplant: Once the seedlings have grown large enough, and the weather is warm enough to avoid frost, harden them off and transplant them into the garden or containers.
Sunlight and Care: Peonies prefer full sun with well-drained soil. Water regularly but avoid waterlogging, and mulch to retain moisture.
Black Peonies are known for their deep, rich colors, which are often tinged with dark hues. They're a stunning addition to gardens and are prized for their large, showy blooms.
