1. Sow Indoors: Start seeds indoors 6–8 weeks before the last frost. Use a well-draining seed-starting mix and sow seeds about 1/8 inch deep. Press them gently into the soil but do not cover, as they need light to germinate.
2. Germination: Keep the soil moist and maintain a temperature of 65–70°F (18–21°C). Germination usually takes 10–21 days.
3. Transplant: Once seedlings are large enough to handle and outdoor temperatures are warm enough (after the last frost), harden them off and transplant them outside. Space plants about 12–18 inches apart.
4. Sunlight and Care: Chilean Glory Flower thrives in full sun and well-drained, fertile soil. Water regularly but avoid waterlogging. This vine is fast-growing and may need support or trellising as it climbs.
5. Pruning: Prune to shape and control growth, especially in the early stages. Deadheading spent blooms encourages more flowering.
Eccremocarpus scaber is known for its vibrant, tubular flowers in shades of orange, red, and yellow. It’s a great climber for trellises, fences, or hanging baskets, attracting pollinators and adding color to the garden.
