1. Sow Indoors: Start seeds indoors about 8–10 weeks before the last frost. Use a seed-starting mix, and sow the seeds 1/4 inch deep. Keep the soil moist and provide warmth, ideally between 75–85°F (24–29°C), as this helps with germination.

2. Germination: Cayenne pepper seeds typically take 7–14 days to germinate, depending on the temperature. Maintain consistent moisture and light.

3. Transplant: Once the seedlings have two sets of leaves and the danger of frost has passed, harden them off by gradually exposing them to outdoor conditions. Transplant them to the garden or containers, spacing plants 18–24 inches apart in rows that are about 24–36 inches apart.

4. Sunlight and Care: Cayenne peppers need full sun (at least 6–8 hours of direct sunlight a day) and well-drained, fertile soil. Water regularly, but ensure the soil is not waterlogged. A layer of mulch helps retain moisture and control weeds.

5. Fertilization: Use a balanced fertilizer or compost to promote healthy growth. Once the plant begins flowering, you can switch to a fertilizer high in phosphorus to support fruit production.

Cayenne peppers are known for their bright red color and medium heat, making them ideal for use in sauces, spice mixes, or for drying and grinding into powder.
