How to Seed Chinese Forget-Me-Not Blue (Cynoglossum amabile)

  1. Sowing Time:
Sow directly outdoors from March to May, or in autumn (September–October) for early spring blooms. Seeds can also be started indoors 6–8 weeks before the last frost.

  2. Sowing Depth:
Sow seeds 0.5 cm deep in moist, well-drained soil. Cover lightly and press gently.

  3. Soil:
Prefers fertile, well-drained soil enriched with compost or organic matter. It tolerates a wide range of soils but thrives in loamy or sandy soil.

  4. Light & Temperature:
Choose a sunny or partially shaded position. Ideal germination temperature is 15–20 °C (59–68 °F).

  5. Germination Time:
Seeds usually germinate within 10–20 days in warm, bright conditions.

  6. Thinning / Transplanting:
When seedlings reach about 5–8 cm tall, thin or transplant them 20–25 cm apart to allow healthy growth.

  7. Growing Tips:

    • Water regularly to keep the soil evenly moist, especially during dry periods.

    • Remove faded flowers to encourage continuous blooming.

    • The Chinese Forget-Me-Not Blue produces clusters of bright sky-blue flowers that bloom from late spring to autumn.

    • Perfect for borders, rock gardens, and cut flower arrangements, and attracts bees and butterflies.
