Climbing Flower Mix - Mina Sweet Pea, Flower Cobaea Bean, and Morning Glory
3 gram seeds
1. Sow Indoors or Outdoors:
- Indoors: Start seeds indoors 6–8 weeks before the last frost. Sow seeds in seed trays or pots with a well-draining seed-starting mix. For each plant:
- Mina Sweet Pea: Sow 1/4 inch deep.
- Cobaea: Soak seeds for 24 hours before planting and sow 1/4 inch deep.
- Morning Glory: Soak seeds for 24 hours and plant 1/2 inch deep.
- Keep the soil moist and maintain temperatures of 65–75°F (18–24°C). Germination can take 10–21 days.
- Outdoors: Directly sow outdoors in late spring after all danger of frost has passed. Space seeds about 4–6 inches apart and thin them once they are a few inches tall. Morning Glories and Cobaea need full sun, while Mina can tolerate partial shade as well.
2. Sunlight and Support:
- Sunlight: All three plants thrive in full sun for at least 6 hours a day.
- Support: These are all climbing plants, so provide a trellis, fence, or other vertical support for them to grow up and spread.
3. Watering and Care:
- Water regularly, especially during dry periods, to keep the soil moist but not waterlogged.
- Feed with a balanced fertilizer every few weeks to promote strong growth and abundant blooms.
4. Blooming and Harvesting:
- Mina Sweet Pea: Blooms in mid to late summer with clusters of tubular red and orange flowers.
- Cobaea: Known for its large, bell-shaped purple or white flowers, it blooms in late summer.
- Morning Glory: Produces funnel-shaped flowers in a variety of colors, blooming in summer to fall.
5. General Tips:
- All three plants are vining climbers that can rapidly cover trellises, fences, or other structures, providing colorful, vertical displays.
- Morning Glory can be a bit invasive in some regions, so keep an eye on its growth.
This Climbing Flower Mix creates a stunning, colorful combination of flowering vines that attract pollinators like bees and butterflies while offering beautiful cascading blooms throughout the growing season.
