Cloud Grass is a delicate ornamental annual grass grown for its fine, airy, cloud-like flower heads that create a soft, misty appearance in gardens and floral arrangements. It is popular for borders, cottage gardens, wildflower meadows, containers, and dried flower bouquets. In the Gulf region, it grows best during the cool season.

Soil Preparation

Use light, sandy, well-drained soil.

Recommended mix:

• 40% Sandy garden soil
• 30% Compost
• 20% Coco peat
• 10% Perlite or coarse sand

Ideal soil pH:

• 6.0–7.5

Sowing Method

• Sow seeds directly into the garden or seed trays.
• Scatter seeds over the soil surface and press them gently into the soil.
• Do not bury deeply—cover with only a very thin layer (about 1–2 mm) of fine soil or vermiculite, as light improves germination.
• Keep the soil evenly moist until seedlings emerge.

• Ideal germination temperature: 15–22°C
• Ideal growing temperature: 15–26°C
• Requires 6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily.
• In warmer Gulf regions, light afternoon shade helps prolong the flowering period.

Watering

• Keep the soil lightly moist during germination.
• After establishment, water when the top 2–3 cm of soil becomes dry.
• Cloud Grass tolerates short dry periods but performs best with regular moisture.
• Avoid waterlogged soil.

Flowering

• Flowers approximately 70–90 days after sowing.

• Apply a light, balanced fertilizer every 4–6 weeks.
