Columbine is a beautiful perennial flowering plant with distinctive, delicate, spurred flowers. It prefers cool to mild temperatures, well-drained soil, and partial shade. In the Gulf, especially Kuwait, it should be treated as a cool-season flower, with protection from intense summer heat.

• Best sowing period: October–January.
• Best period in Kuwait: November–December.
• A second sowing can be made in January–February if temperatures remain cool.
• Avoid: May–September and periods of extreme summer heat.
• Ideal germination temperature: approximately 15–21°C.

🌿 How to Sow the Seeds

1. Use a light, fertile, well-drained seed-starting mix.
2. Columbine seeds need light to germinate, so do not bury them deeply.
3. Scatter the seeds on the surface and press them gently into the growing medium.
4. Cover only with a very thin dusting of fine soil, or leave them barely covered.
5. Water gently with a fine mist.
6. Keep the growing medium consistently moist but never waterlogged.
7. Place the seed tray in a bright location with indirect light or gentle morning sun.
8. Once seedlings develop several true leaves, transplant carefully.
9. Space plants approximately 25–35 cm apart.
