How to Seed Columbine ‘Nora Barlow’ (Aquilegia nora barlow)

  1. Sow indoors in late winter to spring (February–April), or outdoors in spring to early summer.

  2. Use well-drained, fertile soil in partial shade or sun.

  3. Sow seeds on the surface and press gently — do not cover deeply, they need light to germinate.

  4. Keep soil moist but not waterlogged.

  5. Germination takes 21–28 days at 15–20 °C.

  6. Transplant seedlings when strong, spacing 30–40 cm apart.

  7. Plants usually flower in their second year after sowing.

✨ Produces elegant double, pompom-like blooms in pink and green tones, perfect for cottage gardens, borders, and cut flowers.
