🗓️ When to Sow

• Indoors: Start 4–6 weeks before last frost.

• Outdoors: Sow directly after the last frost, once soil warms (above 15°C / 60°F).

🌱 How to Sow

Option 1: Direct Outdoor Sowing (Recommended)

1. Prepare Soil

   • Choose a site with full sun and well-drained soil.

   • Cosmos tolerate poor soil but dislike overly rich, wet conditions.

2. Sow Seeds

   • Depth: ¼ inch (6 mm).

   • Spacing: Sow thinly, then thin seedlings to 12–18 inches (30–45 cm) apart.

3. Watering

   • Water gently after sowing.

   • Keep soil moist until seedlings emerge (but not soggy).

4. Germination

   • Time: 7–10 days

   • Ideal temperature: 65–70°F (18–21°C)

Option 2: Indoor Sowing

1. Use pots or seed trays filled with light seed-starting mix.

2. Sow seeds ¼ inch deep.

3. Keep moist and warm (65–70°F) until germination.

4. Provide bright light once seedlings emerge.

5. Harden off seedlings before transplanting outside.

🌿 After Germination

• Thin or transplant to 12–18 inches apart.

• Cosmos grow quickly and bloom around 60–75 days from sowing.

🌼 Growing Notes

• Sun: Full sun (6+ hours/day).

• Soil: Light, well-draining; avoid high-fertility soil to prevent leggy growth.

• Water: Drought-tolerant once established; water during dry spells.

• Deadheading: Prolongs blooming, but can also allow some to go to seed for self-sowing.

• Height: 'Sensation Radiance' can grow 3–4 feet (90–120 cm) tall — may need staking in windy areas.
