How to Seed Cucumber ‘Obelix’ F1 (Cucumis sativus)
-
When to Sow: Sow indoors in spring (April–May), about 3–4 weeks before the last frost. In warm climates, seeds may be sown directly outdoors once the soil is warm.
-
Soil: Prefers fertile, moisture-retentive, well-drained soil enriched with compost, in a sunny, sheltered position.
-
Sowing: Sow seeds 1–2 cm deep in pots or trays. For outdoor sowing, plant in groups of 2–3 seeds, spacing 45–60 cm apart.
-
Watering: Keep soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water at the base of plants to avoid wetting the foliage.
-
Germination: Seeds sprout in 7–10 days at 20–25 °C.
-
Transplanting: Harden off indoor seedlings and transplant outdoors after frost has passed, spacing them properly.
-
Care: Train plants onto a trellis or netting for best results. Feed regularly with a potassium-rich fertilizer once flowers appear.
-
Harvesting: Pick fruits regularly when they reach 15–20 cm long, to encourage continuous production.
✨ A vigorous hybrid variety producing crisp, straight cucumbers with excellent flavor and high yields. Perfect for fresh eating, salads, and light summer dishes.
