How to Seed Dwarf Bean ‘Merveille de Piemonte’ (Phaseolus vulgaris)
-
When to Sow: Sow directly outdoors from late spring to midsummer, once the soil has warmed and all risk of frost has passed.
-
Soil: Prefers light, fertile, well-drained soil in a sunny position. Avoid waterlogged or cold soils.
-
Sowing: Sow seeds 3–5 cm deep in rows 45 cm apart, spacing seeds 15 cm apart within the row.
-
Watering: Water well after sowing, then keep soil evenly moist during growth, especially when plants flower and form pods.
-
Germination: Seeds germinate in 7–14 days at 15–25 °C.
-
Care: Hoe gently to keep weeds down, and water regularly. No staking is required as these are dwarf bush beans.
-
Harvesting: Harvest pods regularly when young and tender to encourage continued production.
✨ Produces compact plants with attractive green pods streaked with purple. Excellent for steaming, boiling, or adding color and flavor to fresh dishes.
