Elegant Clarkia is a cool-season annual that prefers mild temperatures. In the Gulf, especially Kuwait, it should be grown during the cooler months, with protection from intense afternoon heat.

🌱 Best Sowing Time

• Gulf: October–December and January–February.
• Kuwait: November–December is recommended.
• A second sowing window is January–February if temperatures remain mild.
• Avoid sowing during May–September because of extreme heat.
• Ideal germination temperature: approximately 15–21°C.

🌿 How to Sow the Seeds

1. Choose a light, fertile, well-drained growing medium.
2. Clarkia does not transplant particularly well, so direct sowing is preferred.
3. Sow seeds approximately 0.3–0.5 cm deep.
4. Cover lightly with fine soil.
5. Water gently with a fine spray.
6. Keep the soil consistently lightly moist, but never waterlogged.
7. Once seedlings emerge, thin them to approximately 15–25 cm apart.
8. Avoid disturbing the roots during thinning.

• Keep the soil evenly moist until emergence.

• Soil: Light, fertile, slightly sandy, and very well drained.

• Avoid standing water.
• Fertilizer: Clarkia generally does not require heavy feeding. Add a small amount of compost before sowing and use a mild balanced fertilizer only if growth is weak.
