1000 seeds

Sow seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost date, or directly outdoors after the danger of frost has passed. Plant seeds about 1/4 inch deep in well-draining, fertile soil in a sunny location. Holy basil prefers full sun but can tolerate partial shade in hotter climates. Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged during germination. Once established, Holy basil is somewhat drought-tolerant but thrives with regular watering. Thin seedlings to 6-12 inches apart for proper air circulation. Fertilize lightly with a balanced fertilizer or compost. Harvest the leaves once the plant reaches 6-8 inches tall, typically 60-90 days after sowing. Regular harvesting encourages new growth and prevents the plant from flowering too early.
