• Gulf: February–April and September–November.
• Kuwait: March–April and October–November are good sowing periods.
• For the easiest germination, sow when temperatures are around 22–28°C.

🌿 Seed Preparation

Mimosa pudica seeds have a relatively hard seed coat, so pre-soaking is recommended.

1. Place the seeds in warm water for approximately 12–24 hours.
2. Discard any seeds that remain obviously damaged or empty.
3. Sow the seeds soon after soaking.

1. Use a light, fertile, well-drained seed-starting mix.
2. Moisten the medium before sowing.
3. Sow seeds approximately 0.5–1 cm deep.
4. Cover lightly with fine soil.
5. Water gently with a fine spray.
6. Keep the medium consistently moist but never waterlogged.
7. Place the tray in a warm, bright location with filtered sunlight.

• In Kuwait, October–November is an excellent period for starting Mimosa pudica, with March–April also suitable.
• Protect young plants from intense afternoon sunlight during hot periods.
• During extreme heat, provide approximately 40–50% afternoon shade.

• Container cultivation is useful because the plant can be moved to a cooler, protected position during extreme summer weather.
• Water preferably in the early morning.
• Good drainage is essential, especially when irrigation is frequent.
• The plant naturally folds its leaves when touched or disturbed—this is normal.

Tip: Warmth is important for Mimosa pudica germination, but in the Gulf the seedlings should not be exposed to extreme heat. Warm conditions + bright filtered light + consistently moist but well-drained soil provide the best start.
