🇬🇧 English Instructions
🌱 Best Sowing Time
- Gulf: September–November and January–February.
- Kuwait: October–November is the preferred sowing period.
- A second suitable period is January–February when temperatures remain moderate.
- Avoid outdoor sowing during June–August because of extreme summer heat.
- Ideal germination temperature: approximately 18–22°C.
🌿 How to Sow the Seeds
- Use a light, fertile, fine-textured, and well-drained seed-starting mix.
- Moisten the medium before sowing.
- Sow seeds approximately 0.3–0.5 cm deep.
- Cover lightly with fine soil or vermiculite.
- Water gently using a fine spray.
- Keep the medium evenly moist but never waterlogged.
- Place the seed tray in a bright, cool location.
- Germination usually takes 7–14 days.
🌱 Transplanting
- Transplant seedlings when they have developed 2–3 sets of true leaves.
- Harden seedlings gradually before moving them outdoors.
- Space plants approximately 20–30 cm apart.
- Handle the roots gently during transplanting.
- Choose a location with good airflow and excellent drainage.
☀️ Growing & Care
- Sunlight: Full sun to partial shade.
- In the Gulf, provide morning sun and afternoon shade as temperatures increase.
- Soil: Fertile, loose, organic-rich, and well drained.
- Watering: Keep the root zone moderately moist, allowing the surface to dry slightly between waterings.
- Avoid prolonged drought and waterlogging.
- Fertilizer: Add compost before planting and use a balanced flowering fertilizer during active growth.
- Avoid excessive nitrogen, which can produce abundant foliage with fewer flowers.
🌸 Flowering & Maintenance
- Flowering generally begins approximately 10–14 weeks after sowing, depending on temperature and growing conditions.
- Remove faded flowers regularly to encourage additional blooms.
- Maintain good spacing and airflow to reduce fungal problems.
- Remove yellow or diseased leaves promptly.
- Provide light support if plants become tall or heavily loaded with flowers.
🌡 Gulf Climate Tips
- In Kuwait, October–November is particularly suitable for sowing Pompon Salmon Red Aster.
- During warmer weather, provide approximately 30–50% afternoon shade.
- Protect young plants from hot, dry winds.
- Water preferably in the early morning.
- Avoid keeping foliage wet overnight.
- Excellent drainage is essential, particularly in humid coastal areas.
- Growing in containers allows you to move plants to a cooler, partially shaded position during hot periods.
Tip: For Kuwait, sow Pompon Salmon Red Aster in October–November to allow the plants to establish and flower during the mild growing season.
