How to Seed Pot Marigold ‘Dandy’ (Calendula officinalis)

  1. Sowing Time:
Sow seeds indoors from March to May or directly outdoors from April to June. In mild climates, you can also sow in autumn (September–October) for early spring flowers.

  2. Sowing Depth:
Sow seeds 1–1.5 cm deep in moist, well-drained soil. Cover lightly and press gently.

  3. Soil:
Calendulas grow best in fertile, well-drained soil enriched with compost. They tolerate poor soil but bloom better in rich soil.

  4. Light & Temperature:
Place in a sunny or partially shaded spot. Ideal temperature for germination is 15–20 °C (59–68 °F).

  5. Germination Time:
Seeds usually germinate within 7–14 days.

  6. Transplanting:
When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them into the garden or pots, spacing 25–30 cm apart.

  7. Growing Tips:

    • Choose a sunny location for best flowering.

    • Water regularly but avoid overwatering.

    • Remove faded blooms to encourage continuous flowering.

    • Pot Marigold ‘Dandy’ produces vibrant, double orange-yellow flowers — great for borders and pots.
