How to Seed Sorrel ‘Bloody Dock’ (Rumex sanguineus)

  1. When to Sow: Sow outdoors in spring through late summer. In mild climates, it can also be sown in autumn.

  2. Soil: Prefers moist, fertile, well-drained soil in a sunny to partially shaded spot.

  3. Sowing: Sow seeds 0.5–1 cm deep in rows or patches. Space plants 25–30 cm apart.

  4. Watering: Keep soil evenly moist, especially during hot weather, to prevent bolting.

  5. Germination: Seeds sprout in 7–14 days at 15–20 °C.

  6. Thinning: Thin seedlings once established, leaving the strongest plants at the proper spacing.

  7. Care: Harvest young leaves regularly to encourage fresh growth. Remove flower stalks to prolong the harvest period.

✨ Grown for its striking green leaves with deep red veins and tangy, lemony flavor. Perfect for salads, garnishes, or as an ornamental edible plant.
