How to Seed Summer Carnival Orange (Cheiranthus allionii)

  1. Sowing Time:
Sow indoors from February to April, or directly outdoors from April to June. In mild climates, you can also sow in autumn (September–October) for early spring flowering.

  2. Sowing Depth:
Sow seeds lightly covered — about 0.5 cm deep — in moist, well-drained soil. Press gently to ensure good contact with the soil.

  3. Soil:
Use fertile, well-drained soil enriched with compost or organic matter. Wallflowers prefer soil that is not too rich but drains well.

  4. Light & Temperature:
Place seeds in a bright, sunny position with a temperature around 15–20 °C (59–68 °F) for germination.

  5. Germination Time:
Seeds will germinate within 7–14 days under ideal conditions.

  6. Transplanting:
When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them into garden beds or pots, spacing 20–25 cm apart.

  7. Growing Tips:

    • Choose a sunny spot for best flowering.

    • Water moderately; avoid waterlogging.

    • Remove spent flowers to encourage more blooms.

    • The Summer Carnival Orange variety produces bright, fragrant orange flowers, ideal for borders, pots, and pollinator-friendly gardens.
