๐Ÿ—“๏ธ When to Sow

  • Indoors: Start seeds 6โ€“8 weeks before your last frost date.

  • Outdoors: Direct sow after the last frost, once the soil has warmed.

๐ŸŒฑ How to Sow Indoors (Recommended)

  1. Prepare Containers

    • Use seed trays or pots with a light, well-draining seed-starting mix.

  2. Sow the Seeds

    • Surface sow: Sprinkle seeds on the soil surface.

    • Do not cover โ€” seeds need light to germinate.

    • Press seeds gently into the soil to ensure good contact.

  3. Moisture

    • Mist gently to keep the soil evenly moist, not wet.

    • Cover trays lightly with a humidity dome or plastic wrap to maintain humidity.

  4. Light & Temperature

    • Ideal germination temp: 65โ€“70ยฐF (18โ€“21ยฐC).

    • Germination usually takes 10โ€“15 days.

    • Provide bright light once germination occurs (windowsill or grow lights).

๐ŸŒฟ After Germination

  • Remove cover once seedlings emerge.

  • Keep soil moist but not soggy.

  • Transplant into individual pots when seedlings have 2โ€“3 true leaves.

๐ŸŒธ Transplanting Outdoors

  • Harden off for 7โ€“10 days before transplanting outdoors.

  • Plant in full sun.

  • Spacing: 8โ€“12 inches (20โ€“30 cm) apart.

  • Soil: Well-draining, sandy or loamy soil. Avoid overly rich soil to keep plants compact.

๐ŸŒพ Growing Notes

  • Water: Drought-tolerant once established. Water moderately, allowing the soil to dry slightly between waterings.

  • Bloom Time: Late spring through summer.

  • Use: Excellent for fresh and dried arrangements โ€” harvest flowers when they are half open for drying.

  • Deadheading: Encourages more blooms but not strictly necessary if growing for dried flowers.
