Wooly Kate Yellow Tomato is a rare heirloom variety recognized for its soft, fuzzy (woolly) foliage and stems and attractive golden-yellow fruits. The fruits are medium-sized, juicy, mildly sweet, and low in acidity, making them ideal for fresh salads, slicing, sandwiches, and gourmet dishes. This vigorous indeterminate variety continues producing fruit throughout the growing season and performs very well in the Gulf region when planted during the cooler months. It is suitable for gardens, greenhouses, raised beds, large containers, and hydroponic systems.

Gulf Climate Tips

  • Plant during August to October for the highest yields.
  • Support plants with sturdy stakes, cages, or trellises, as this is an indeterminate variety.
  • The naturally fuzzy foliage helps provide some protection from insects and intense sunlight, but shade protection is still recommended during extreme heat.
  • Fertilize every 2 weeks with a balanced fertilizer, then switch to a fertilizer higher in potassium and phosphorus during flowering and fruiting.
  • Apply organic mulch to conserve soil moisture and reduce root-zone temperature.
  • Wooly Kate Yellow Tomato performs exceptionally well in greenhouses, hydroponic systems, raised beds, and large containers.
