🗓️ When to Sow

• Indoors: Start 4–6 weeks before the last frost.

• Outdoors: Sow after last frost, when soil has warmed to at least 21°C (70°F).

• Zinnias are frost-sensitive, so don't rush them into the garden.

🌱 How to Sow

✅ Direct Sowing (Recommended for Ease)

1. Choose a Full Sun Location

   • Zinnias need 6+ hours of direct sun daily.

   • Soil should be well-drained, moderately fertile.

2. Prepare the Soil

   • Loosen the soil and remove weeds.

   • Rake smooth and water lightly before sowing.

3. Sow Seeds

   • Depth: ¼ inch (6 mm).

   • Spacing: Sow seeds 2 inches apart, then thin to 8–12 inches (20–30 cm) when seedlings are 2–3 inches tall.

4. Watering

   • Keep the soil moist until seeds germinate.

   • Avoid overhead watering to reduce risk of mildew.

5. Germination

   • Germinates in 5–10 days at warm temperatures (21–26°C / 70–80°F).

✅ Indoor Sowing (for Early Blooms or Short Seasons)

1. Use seed trays or biodegradable pots (zinnias dislike root disturbance).

2. Sow ¼ inch deep in moist seed-starting mix.

3. Keep warm (70–75°F / 21–24°C) and provide bright light.

4. Transplant carefully after hardening off, when danger of frost is past.

🌿 Growing Notes

• Watering: Water at the base; allow the soil to dry between waterings.

• Feeding: Optional — a light application of balanced fertilizer once or twice during the season.
